Brady RuthSoccer
| Schuylkill Valley High SchoolHello, my name is Brady Ruth. I am a junior at Schuylkill Valley High School in Leesport, PA. I have a personal connection to the use of an AED because in sixth grade I was suddenly diagnosed with a rare heart condition called Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (WPW). I was completely unaware of the condition until I suffered a cardiac emergency after a soccer game and was rushed to the hospital. Throughout the numerous nights spent in the hospital, and tests and procedures done on my heart, I learned of the high demand and importance that AEDs have. Overall, my goal is to raise enough funds to purchase an AED that can be used in my community.

Central Dauphin School District Cheerleading
|Central Dauphin School District Cheerleaders are partnering with Huddle for Hearts to raise awareness about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). CDSD Cheer is fundraising for an AED in the gym that is shared with the youth cheer program, as well as Central Dauphin and Central Dauphin East cheerleaders. The teams practice year-round to prepare not only for the cheer season, but also for competitions held locally and in Orlando, Florida, at the National High School Cheerleading Championships in February. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the #1 killer of student athletes in our country. Every hour, every day, we lose a child to SCA. Oftentimes, the first sign or symptom of a hidden heart issue…is sudden death. According to Parent Heart Watch, “Most occurrences of SCA in youth occur in public places. The increased availability of publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in schools and school-sponsored athletic events will dramatically increase the probability that youth will survive SCA.”

|The Harrisburg High School Mighty Cougars are partnering with Huddle for Hearts to raise awareness about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and how we can save lives. For every rushing Touchdown this season, donations will be made towards the purchase of AEDs. We also provide CPR training and education to coaches, group leaders and youth. | Hershey BearsI'm with the Hershey Bears and have a deep passion for hockey. I'm committed to giving back to the communities that have supported me throughout my career. After learning that Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death among student-athletes, I've become dedicated to promoting the importance of placing AEDs in community spaces and training people in hands-only CPR. It's vital that we take proactive steps to protect our young athletes and community members.
